Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Care AU will support you to develop and maintain skills to live independently in your own home, tailored shared home and we assist you find specialised disability accommodation (SDA). Our tailored services can assist you with a range of supports which includes the following:

  • Support with personal care and household tasks
  • Support with menu planning and meal preparation
  • Support to manage your emotions and behaviour
  • Support with medication management and other Nursing support
  • Support with community participation

Note: The NDIS does not fund the cost of rent, board, transport, and other day-to-day expenses such as food and activities

Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA)

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) can help if you need a place to live while you are waiting for a confirmed long-term housing solution. The NDIS usually funds MTA as a one-off support, for stays of up to three months (90 days), while things are getting sorted.

We offer MTA for those times when your confirmed long-term housing solution isn’t quite ready.

This could be if you are:

  • Waiting home modifications to be done
  • Waiting for assistive technology to arrive
  •  Waiting for your confirmed SDA to be available
  • Waiting for a new build SDA to be ready
  • Leaving the hospital or aged care
  • Experiencing a breakdown of supports and can’t live in your current home

Note: MTA covers the accommodation costs of where you stay. You’ll still need to pay for other things like your food, phone, internet, and other bills as usual.

Short Term Accommodation (STA) /Respite

Our service offers quick access to Short-Term/Crisis/Respite Accommodation for those in urgent need. You can enjoy meeting new people and trying new things through our services. We customise each participant’s stay according to their interests and requirements. Our devoted and skilled staff are committed to helping NDIS participants reach their full potential. We strive to provide top-notch, personalised support that caters to their diverse needs, ensuring the best possible care.

All our properties are fully furnished, welcoming and well-equipped for people with a disability. Our staff will also make sure your support needs are met.

  • This could include: Nutrition
  • Meal planning and cooking
  • Personal care such as showering and dressing
  • Taking medication.

Note: Your funding in your NDIS plan will allow for up to 28-days a year in Short Term Accommodation. So, depending on your package you could stay overnight, for a weekend, or for a holiday. It’s up to you!

Short Term Accommodation for Children:

All our properties are welcoming and well-equipped for children with a disability. Our trained staff will also make sure your child’s support needs are met. Our Short Term Accommodation properties are a home away from home for your child!

A stay with us gives your child the chance to meet new people, try new things and gain more independence. STA means you can get some time to unwind too.

This could include:

  • Nutrition
  • Personal care such as showering and dressing
  • Taking medication
  • Supports to help manage behaviours of concern
  • Going beach or Movie
  • Playing favourite sport

If you require short term housing requirement because you are in difficult situations, we are here to support you 24/7. We work with you to explore options for your supports.
